We have CBD at Madrid Acupuncture -Thornton, CO!

Hi friends Dr. Lorena here! I am so excited to announce that we now have our very own brand of CBD products. For a long time I sold different CBD products from different companies but it was never exactly perfect. I have a strong passion for providing patients and myself with clean high quality ingredients as well as environmentally conscious packaging. In this blog I will discuss the ingredients in our CBD as well as information on CBD itself. I was introduced to a company by a patient. This company allows me to have my own custom formula, labels and glass bottles. I am so proud to offer this premium CBD product to you.

Let’s talk about CBD and how it can help!

CBD Research

What’s CBD?

CBD is derived from the hemp plant. Topical CBD for pain relief Thornton, CO.

CBD, also known as cannabidiol, is a chemical found in the flower and leaves of the hemp plant. The stems, stalks and seeds of the hemp plant contain little to no CBD.

Why call it hemp? What is hemp?

Hemp and cannabis aka marijuana are the same plant but the difference is cannabis has an increased amount of THC compared to the small amount found in hemp.

What’s THC?

THC also known as tetrahydrocannabinol is the part of the cannabis plant that gives you the “high feeling” or psychoactive response. THC is what many jobs will test for when requiring a drug test.

How does CBD work?

Our body has receptors in our cells called cannabinoid 1 (CB1) and cannabinoid 2 (CB2). These little receptors regulate cellular health. CB1 and CB2 are located throughout the body. CB1 are mostly located in the brain and spinal cord and CB2 are located in the nerves of the rest of the body. When these CB2 receptors are activated they can regulate pain, inflammation, nerve damage recovery and regeneration and much more. There are different types of cannabinoids that attach to these receptors and tell it what to do. We have nine types of cannabinoids that naturally live in our body. These natural existing cannabinoids are called endocannabinoids. Different types of plants can also produce cannabinoids and these types are called phytocannabinoids (phyto means pertaining to or derived from plants). CBD is considered a phytocannabinoid. Research continues on the direct action of CBD but what has been previously studied in other phytocannabinoid plants like echinacea is that it attaches to the CB2 receptor it can relay messages to the nervous system to reduce inflammation and pain.

How is CBD derived from the plant?

Madrid CBD is CO2 extracted from the hemp plant. We get our CBD from Extract Labs in Boulder. Extract labs is a veteran owned company that is also GMP certified. This is a certification for FDA safety and quality.

Is CBD legal in Colorado?

Yes! “Hemp-derived CBD products with less than 0.3% THC are federally legal” in the state of Colorado.

What other ingredients are in Madrid CBD?

Our CBD topicals not only includes hemp extract but we also added other great clean ingredients including: Coconut oil, shea butter, beeswax, arnica, menthol, eucalyptus, camphor and lavender. We use fractionated coconut oil and steam distilled, food grade essential oils.

How are these ingredients helpful?

Fractionated Coconut Oil in our CBD for skin moisturizer. Thornton, CO

Coconut oil: We use fractionated coconut oil in our CBD products. Fractionated means fatty acids are removed. Removing certain fatty acids helps to keep the oil in a liquid state. Coconut oil is a great moisturizer for the skin and helps the body to naturally absorb the CBD into the skin.

Shea butter: is a natural vegetable fat derived from the nuts of a shea tree. Shea butter has significant moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties. The fat also helps the skin absorb the CBD into the skin.

Beeswax: Of course beeswax is secreted from bees! Bees make this wax in the glands of their belly and then release it into the hive. Beeswax hydrates and soothes itchy or irritated skin.

Arnica: is a yellow flower related to the sunflower family. Arnica is used topically for swelling, bruising and pain. Arnica is NOT safe to ingest.

Menthol: Of course is mint! Menthol can reduce aches and pains with its cooling properties. It creates a cooling effect on the skin which interrupts your pain signal to the brain and can give you temporary pain relief.

Eucalyptus: Is a beautiful tree! The scent of the eucalyptus leaves are refreshing, clean, and calming. (In my opinion) Maybe one would describe it as slightly woodsy and minty. I love it! Eucalyptus has analgesic (pain relieving), anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. Theres also research that says eucalyptus has anticatarrhal effects. Anticatarrhal means it can remove mucous from the body.

Camphor: Is from the bark or wood of a Camphor tree. Usually turned into a powder and mixed in other products. Camphor is an FDA approved skin treatment to help skin irritation including pain, mild burns, itching as well as osteoarthritis and cough. Camphor is what you smell in vapor rubs. Camphor is NOT safe to ingest.

Lavender Oil in Madrid CBD helps calm anxiety, pain and inflammation Thornton, CO

Lavender: Is a lovely purple flower in the mint family. It has a sweet floral scent that’s light and fresh. There has been many studies on the multiple effects of lavender. Lavender contains a chemical compound called linalool. Studies have shown that linalool can reduce anxiety, depression and blood pressure. Research also shows lavender can improve your bodies melatonin levels helping you get a good nights sleep. Lavender can reduce pain and inflammation including headache pain when smelled regularly and used topically. Lavender when used as a cleaning agent kills harmful viruses and bacteria (antimicrobial and antiviral properties).
